Words of kindness are works of kindness, and since they cost so little and are worth so much, we should strew them plentifully all along life's way. ~Modern Proverbs
Picture the scene: A dark night in Transylvania, a castle bedroom, a beautiful young woman in bed, sleeping, defenseless. The windows are open; the curtains flutter; a bat flies in. There's a swirl of fog, and the bat turns into . . . Dracula! He approaches the bed. He opens his mouth; his canines are the length of Bic pens. He leans over the sleeping girl, his glowing red eyes riveted on her slim, vulnerable neck. He leans toward her and . . . Whips out his laptop computer! He boots it up! (This takes 17 minutes, because Dracula has Windows XP.) Finally the woman, sensing an evil presence in the room, wakes up and to her horror finds herself face to face with . . . the word ''BOO'' in Gothic Leaf, 18-point, boldface! AIEEEEEE.
Comcast has finally upgraded our cable! It is about time. It seems as if the rest of the county was upgraded before they got around to us.
I will finally be able to get the SCI-FI channel (though according to some people, you know who you are, it isn't worth much since Farscape was cancelled). I will be able to watch Star Trek: The Original Series. I sort of miss ol' Kirk boy. posted by deborah

The New TV season
A few new shows have fallen by the wayside for me. I watched "The Brotherhood of Poland NH" for about 5 minutes during the pilot episode. It was so awful....
"The Lyon's Den" is also off my list. BORING. And I never even bothered watching the pilot of "Joan of Arcadia."
However, pleasant surprises are "Karen Sisco" and "The Handler." I watched the pilot of "The Handler" almost by accident since it follows "Jag" on Friday nights, and "Jag" is a must see. "The Handler" is not just "one of the best new shows of the season" it is the best new show. posted by deborah

Western Washington experienced a record rainfall yesterday. For example, Sea-Tac received almost inches, and places like Hoodsport received a whopping eight inches. The rivers north of us are all flooding. We have been most lucky here in SW Washington, so far their is no flood warning on the Chehalis.
So, it seems we have gone from a record dry season to a record wet season. What next? I really think I can wait for that answer! posted by deborah

A New Poem
Post-Princess Blues
Naked Barbies piled high in a thrift-store bin; tangled together in an orgy of pink plastic and violated dreams.
